Where is my fat bisexual alien goblin king?

Few things make the internet’s collective butthole pucker up with rage more then the idea of fat people… I dunno, existing, let alone having a gender or sexuality of any sort. I’d tell you to check the comments section if you don’t believe me, but no one needs that in their life. Instead, with the help of writer and enby historian Dianna E. Anderson, let’s build a more gender inclusive, fat liberated world.

Gender Purity

From seatbelts to power chords there’s an underlying assumption in our society that male goes into female JUST LIKE NATURE INTENDED. We tend to ignore the bees and the bonobos and everyother good goddamn creature under the sun by believing that two complimentary things must go together IN ACCORDANCE WITH GOD’S WILL. Now that we’ve injected a little science to our thinking, what are we left to do with these supposed ideals?

Labels Are For Soup Cans

SecX has spoken before on the idea of soul mates but I think deeper then that is a magical assumption about the nature of ‘the soul.’ Even if we recognize that there’s no such metaphysical, magical energy animating our bodies, we all seem to be seeking a certain quietness of mind, where our true identity, thoughts and desires can be heard. But if there is no still quiet voice that makes us us, then what the hell are we? And how the hell are we supposed to show anyone else?

A Brief History of Enbynity

When Ellen came out, when Caitlyn Jenner shook up reality T.V. , when Elliot Page broke the internet we heard the same stories about the rise in queer culture and the ‘slippery slope’ of the next generation ‘inventing new problems.’ We’ve pointed out before (more then once) that these identities aren’t exactly new, but revisionist history being what it is there’s a long way to go in setting the record straight. Dianna Anderson joins Rudy and I this week to pick up our pens and pickaxes to unearth and correct the texts, plus your calls!

Gender Critical Thinking with Cindy Plaza

The atheism community prides itself on skeptical, critical thinking. For more then 2 years now every episode we’ve done highlighting trans issues, focusing on the science of gender, the error of biological sex and the rationale for trans policy, only to meet more then our fair share of trolls and troglodytes. This week we are joined by The Path of Reason host Cindy Plaza to discover whether or not critical thinking can support the gender critical trans exclusionary radical feminism we see so much of in our society.

Finding Your Voice

Billie was one of our last guests to join the show back on Earth That Was and comes back to us with an important idea for our new digital world- the way people hear your voice matters. This summer we began collecting pronouns from our callers because the more often we see ‘she/her’ paired with a booming baritone the more easily we can drop the gender critical bullshit and recognize that any voice can come from any one. And, as we work to make ourselves a more accepting society, Billie walks us through some of the dangers and opportunities found in the world of voice therapy.

Serafina and Rachel’s Trans Agenda

The trans agenda- politicians, pundits and um * checks notes * children’s authors seem to have a lot to say about it. But what is it these uniquely beautiful people seem to want, other than a safe place to pee? What if, and I’m just spitballing here, we actually listen to a couple of trans folx? This week I’m joined by both Fan Favorite Serafina Smith™ and former Atheist Vanguardian Rachel Watson to find some guidance.

ENBY Mythbusting w/ ExCultBaby

Everyone loves a turncoat, an apostate. Benedict Arnold, Judas Iscariot, Mordred… or wait I mean George Washington, Saint Peter and Sir Lancelot. Guess it kind of depends on whose side you fall on. Since 2018 ExCultBaby has worked to free people from religious thinking as a professional ex Jehovah’s Witness and atheist activists, highlighting issues of race, gender and sexuality along the way. It’s my privilege this week to join them and Vi as we consider the myths and messages surrounding non-binary folx.

Filling In American Gender History

In an America that is still getting around to apologizing for Japanese American internment, it’s no surprise that expansion of legal protections for trans folx has brought greater visibility and some scary push back. What a lot of people don’t seem to understand is why there are SUDDENLY trans people everywhere, invading a bathroom or track and field team near you. Of course trans DNA has always been part of our genetic legacy but why haven’t we seen more trans figures in the past? Visiting Secular Sexuality to help answer some of these questions and offer us a few of the missing pages from our anthropology books is my colleague Billie Beard.
